Thanks for visiting.
I thought it would be a good idea to share my love for interior design with you all, hence creating "The Designer In You".
This all started when I came to terms with knowing that the industry I was working in was not for me. I was always creative growing up but did the typical thing where I went to university and studied something just for the sake of a degree. Anyway, during my second term of my first year, I knew my course wasn't for me and I considered starting again but was so consumed in a world of "doing everything with my friends" that I did not want to miss posting graduation pictures on social media at the same time as them, or still being in university when they're all working, so I stuck it out. It wasn't until I had a conversation with a family member who reminded me that education as no age limit.
I then thought about what I really wanted to do, after redecorating my bedroom almost every other year, it felt like a no brainer to pursue a career in interior design. I then did so much research into how to get into the industry, contact people on LinkedIn, Instagram etc. I actually didn't get many responses back, which made me feel discouraged. I then started looking into a short course and even going back to university completely - that was disheartening too as I had no previous experience. So I sobbed around for a bit and continued my day to day life as an estate agent.
Fast forward a few months later, I went to meet a landlord in Stratford who was an architect and we ended up speaking for ages, I think I even forgot to value his apartment - whoops! He gave me a list of institutions where I could get an interior design qualification without previous experience that will actually be recognised in the industry. I started to email them all, look at the costs and time scales and ended up at the British Academy of Interior Design (BAID).
And here I am today writing blogs and creating amazing spaces for you all to enjoy. I'd love to hear what you'd like to read about so feel free to drop me an email and let me know your thoughts!
